About This Product

Spillway Dirt for Levees, Embankments, and Earthwork

Spillway dirt takes its name from its source. It comes from the maintained corridors around Louisiana's spillways and floodway infrastructure, where periodic clearing and grading operations produce large volumes of native soil material. That material, dense and already conditioned by decades of compaction from equipment and water loading, works well as fill for similar applications.

It is a compactable material that behaves consistently under equipment. Levee maintenance crews use it for embankment fill and repair. Earthwork contractors use it where a dense native material is specified. It costs less than engineered fill while still performing in applications that need a soil with good compaction characteristics.

In Jefferson Parish, where levee and drainage infrastructure is part of daily life, spillway dirt is a material contractors and parish crews know by name. It is as local as the drainage canals it helps protect.
